Kuala Lumpur 35mm black and white film and developing
This presentation of 6 prints contributed to a collaborative exhibition involving photographers from the local community and included students from Garden International School. Our exhibition successfully drew attention to the encroachment of development on a local village and its inhabitants. Received with glowing reviews and articles in local and international press.
Using traditional 35mm film processing and darkroom printing only in deliberate contrast to modern digital technology. This project intends to explore the relentless encroachment of modern development on the existence of the local village of Kampung Segumbut Dalam in Kuala Lumpur. The high rise condos of wealthy Mont Kiara suburb cast a dark shadow on traditional rural life below being squeezed off the land and present a vivid dichotomy all too familiar around the rapidly advancing new World.
